BIG ON GIG:  WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE GIG ECONOMY

        Janie Warner, SHRM-SCP

        VP/National HR Practice Leader

        McGriff Insurance Services, Inc.

It’s been on the horizon for several years now – the idea that traditional employment definitions are changing and morphing into an economy that is driven by individuals’ desires to be their own boss and free-lance as contractors. With the recent COVID crisis, many businesses have started thinking about how the workplace will be forever changed by the availability of technology and they are being less concerned about traditional workplaces and workspaces. They are also thinking about how they can get the productivity they need without the commitment and costs of additional full time employees.

        This session will:

        • Define “Gig Economy” and “Gig Worker”
        • Discuss 3 ways to determine if your workplace would benefit from the Gig philosophy
        • Explore some of the pros and cons of the Gig Economy and why it’s changing the world of HR
